Aspen is built on a simple principle: your AI runs on your own hardware, and your data stays with you. This policy explains exactly what that means.
Aspen runs AI models locally on your own computer. When you chat with Aspen, your messages are processed entirely on your machine. Your conversations, the facts Aspen learns about you, and your usage history are stored only on your own device — never on our servers.
The Aspen mobile app (iOS and Android) is a companion to the desktop application. It connects directly to the Aspen instance running on your own computer through a secure tunnel. When you send a message from the mobile app, it travels to your own computer to be processed. We do not store, read, or retain the contents of your messages.
To connect your phone to your computer, requests are relayed through runonaspen.com. This relay passes your messages between your devices but does not store or log their contents. The relay exists only to route traffic to your machine.
When a question requires current information, Aspen may perform a web search on your behalf using public search engines. The search query is sent to those services to retrieve results. No personal identifying information is attached to these searches.
Voice features use your device's built-in speech recognition. Audio is processed by your device's operating system to convert speech to text. Aspen does not record, store, or transmit raw audio.
If you provide an email address (for example, to invite a family member or pre-order the Aspen device), we use it solely to send that specific message or fulfill that request. We do not sell or share email addresses.
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not read your conversations. There are no accounts required to use the desktop app.
All your conversation history, learned facts, and settings live on your own devices. You can delete them at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling. There is nothing for us to delete on our end because we don't store it.
Aspen is not directed at children under 13.
